Scalar mesons above and below 1 GeV
We show that two nonets and a glueball provide a consistent description of data on scalar mesons below 1.7 GeV. Above 1 GeV the states form a conventional qq̄ nonet mixed with the glueball of lattice QCD. Below 1 GeV the states also form a nonet, as implied by the attractive forces of QCD, but of more complicated nature. Near the center they are (qq)3̄(q̄q̄)3 in S-wave, with some qq̄ in P-wave, but ...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Calorimetry for the ILC
The CALICE Collaboration builds electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters optimised for particle flow at ILC. Two physics prototypes for the analog electromagnetic calorimeters (ScECAL and SiW ECAL) were extensively tested with beams. Both showed a remarkable facility of operation, low noise and high stability in time. The first analysis of the testbeam data indicate that they meet the ILC requ...
متن کاملQCD coupling below 1 GeV from quarkonium spectrum
In this paper we exploit calculations within a Bethe-Salpeter (BS) formalism adjusted for QCD, in order to extract an “experimental” strong coupling α s (Q2) below 1 GeV by comparison with the meson spectrum. The BS potential follows from a proper ansatz on the Wilson loop to encode confinement and is the sum of a one-gluonexchange and a confinement term. Besides, the common perturbative strong...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Wave Propagation in the Relativistic Regime
An electromagnetic wave is expected to propagate through an overdense plasma, provided that its amplitude is large enough to bring the electron motion into the relativistic regime. We study this induced transparency by using 1D and 2D particle simulations. We find that large chaotic longitudinal electric fields are generated and strong plasma heating takes place during the propagation. This beh...
